Without a clear assessment of the scale, speed and implications of climate disruption, responses risk falling short of what is required for the protection of communities, ecosystems and future stability. Our Research & Analysis program produces grounded, evidence-based analysis to help advocates, decision-makers and the public better understand the risks we face and the pathways needed to restore safe climate conditions.
The purpose of our research and analysis program is to examine the scientific imperatives for restoring safe climate conditions: reviewing literature, identifying knowledge gaps, and synthesising scientific research to help answer critical questions, including:
- High-End Climate Risks
- What range of safe climate conditions, ecological thresholds and Earth system determinants are required to maintain the world’s biodiverse ecosystems and secure adequate food and water for the human population?
- What trajectory and timetable for emissions reductions and the large-scale drawdown of existing atmospheric carbon are needed to achieve that aim? What additional measures or emergency responses may also be required to reduce escalating climate risks?
